HISTORY

Music for HOPE, Inc. was founded in 1994 in Las Vegas, NV. The primary goal of Music for HOPE was to “Make the world a  better place through music”.

At its inception Music for HOPE started with a list of possible programs it could provide  to achieve its primary mission. The list included providing entertainers and production assistance to non-profits for fundraisers, producing benefit concerts and fundraisers, producing concerts and events for Veterans in VA hospitals, providing entertainment for residents of nursing homes and assisted living facilities,  providing musical instruments to disadvantaged and “at risk” youth, and providing musical instruments to struggling school music programs.

Of all of the programs on the list the one that garnered the most attention and where the greatest need seemed to be was the musical instruments for kids and schools. With no funding and the cost of musical instruments being relatively high Mr. Jones came up with the idea of acquiring donated, used instruments that were collecting dust in somebody’s closet or attic, refurbishing these instruments and then providing them to the kids and schools that were in need at no cost. This is the program that took off and became Music for HOPE’s flagship program and what Music for HOPE is most known for.

Over the last 25 years Music for HOPE has helped hundreds of youth and school music programs and impacted the lives of thousands of youth who might not otherwise had access to music programs.

Music for HOPE has managed to survive the trials and tribulations over the years through natural and man made disasters expanding and contracting with the times but always staying true to its founding principle of “Making the world a better place through music”
